[遊戲]SPORE

寒假預定要玩的遊戲：SPORE，我弟弟推薦，據說是從浮游生物開始文明化的過程，現在我還不敢玩，怕會沉迷不可自拔，不過，我弟弟說他玩三天就膩了。
今天剛好看到science雜誌上相關介紹Flunking Spore*(by John Bohannon)，似乎是針對裡面的生物演化(biology & evolution)提出負面看法，尤其當這個遊戲還在國家地理頻道(National Geographic channel)被宣傳介紹一個小時，關於其在遊戲中置入突破性科學，揭露基因如何去塑造生物的秘密("the breakthrough science that's revealing the secret genetic machinery that shapes all life in the game Spore." )。
即使從科學的角度來看是不合格的，John不否認這款遊戲其實很可愛。
*Flunk: 美口語的失敗或不及格。

[心情]雜七雜八

我有兩瓶crabtree身體乳液，其中有一瓶是玫瑰花味道，塗在身上後感覺自己像顆芭樂；另一瓶是噴泉味道，塗在身上後感覺自己像顆綠豆，都非常地有趣。
話說今天早上一直在猶豫要不要去跟coadvisor meeting(覺也沒睡好)，因為手上什麼資料都沒有，很虛，所以不知道要去談什麼，加上腦袋也空空的(我一緊張就沒辦法好好思考)，一度想寫信跟老師說不meet了，但是截至目前為止還沒寫e-mail(想著覺都沒睡好了，如果又沒去meeting，會很悶)，另一方面又希望老師自己寫信給我說，今天太忙沒辦法meeting，天人交戰，小天使和小惡魔在我頭腦裡面盤旋好久，後來決定，雖然心中沒有底，還是去跟老師談談，看看能不能比較有底。
經過這一番猶豫和掙扎，現在人已經在實驗室了，還不到十點喔！
早上外面的人好多，走在路上，我全副武裝(毛帽、圍巾和手套)，後來疑似哼歌哼得太專心，旁邊靜悄悄走來一個屬於帥的南美或印度裔的外國人，都沒發覺，沒想到他就很自然跟我講起話來(英國口音?)，話題是他萬聖節的服裝計畫，還問我有沒有什麼想法，不過有鑒於毛帽隔音效果太好，我都聽不清楚，所以只能開始裝傻和微笑，不過我有聽到他的名字和住在SP，是個一年級新生。
後來，連進到TechSquare 500建築物後搭電梯，都有六個人同時搭，真是太神奇了，平常電梯都是很冷清的耶。

But the story does not end yet...
就在剛剛，我提著很重的電腦，11am，走到老師辦公室，發現老師不在(out of town)!!!祕書竟然沒有寫信通知我們...還一臉無辜地說，我可以幫你安排其它時間，結果，我很順地回答：that's ok. never mind...
總之(anyway)，我的祈禱成真了，meeting果然被取消了。
不知道這樣的結果是好是壞。

[原來]日光節約

原來日光節約(Daylight Saving Time)是下禮拜(11/2, 2am)，不是今天，虧我早上超開心(因為多了一個小時)，但其實並沒有(難怪都沒人寄信通知，一整個很詭異)，結果證明原來是白開心一場，不過沒關係，下禮拜可以再開心一次。
